Fun Places To Go In Your Own Classroom - Go Sit In The Corner For Fun

The corner of the classroom used to be an unwanted and an unpopular place to be assigned. Most of us don’t want to be separated from the group or feel like we are alienated.

Why not make a section of the classroom a place where imagination would be explored during a timeout, recess, or as a reward?

Teens can explore their own identity and creativeness with an improv lesson or speech aided with props. Kids love to make up stories. Have them develop and enrich your curriculum with imagination.

  • Create a corner of your room or office with a theme or with fun props

  • Have dress up clothes and accessories that are both unusual and creative

  • Use items from the dollar store that are both educational and fun

  • Items that are oversized like large money or large decks of cards are more fun

  • Make scenes from movies, landscapes from countries and have culture stories available for reading time

  • Tell a story with funny props, record it and print it for the parents

  • Use colors and patterns that will stimulate humor and creativity

Make your department office a fun place to relax and unwind during your prep. Create a space for fun there and invite your colleagues to participate in it’s development. Ask parents to donate items as part of your school supplies for the year. Parents will be happy to get rid of some of the “overstock” in their houses.

Let’s face it, if we have to be at work, we might as well have a fun place to go. Escape to another place and sit in the corner.

You wear many hats so you might as well look the part!
